— FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WELCOME NEW RESIDENT DJ
July 17, 2026
Everybody put your hands together, or your drinks down, or whatever you've got free, for Joseph Mattachine — DJ, producer, and the newest name to hold a permanent slot in this bar's rotation. We didn't hire a DJ. We hired a whole late-1970s European disco basement smuggled through customs in a laptop bag, and frankly that tracks for this building.
FROM THE DESK OF THE EAGLE
PORTLAND, OR — The Eagle has acquired new hardware. Not a fixture, not a fresh coat on the booth — a body, behind the decks, and he's staying.
Everybody put your hands together, or your drinks down, or whatever you've got free, for Joseph Mattachine — DJ, producer, and the newest name to hold a permanent slot in this bar's rotation.
Joseph rolled in from Denver, which we're told is a fine city for skiing and a less fine city for finding a dance floor that actually moves. Portland's gain, evidently. He brought a record bag that doesn't sit in one lane — House, Disco, Acid, Italo, and whatever sits in the cracks between them — and a production catalog of his own to go with it, which is more than most people show up with on night one.
We didn't hire a DJ. We hired a whole late-1970s European disco basement smuggled through customs in a laptop bag, and frankly that tracks for this building.
Starting now, Joseph holds down every 4th Saturday for L.U.R.E. — which means you've officially got a date circled, a reason to plan the outfit two weeks out, and no excuse.
Go say hello. Follow the man. Then show up and let him work.

See you on the floor.

COCKTAIL: THE ITALO IMPORT
Built for a man who crossed a state line to make you dance. Bright, a little synthetic, goes down easier than it should.
Glass: Coupe Ice: None — served up
Spec:
2 oz gin
0.75 oz Aperol
0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
0.5 oz simple syrup
2 dashes orange bitters
Soda splash to finish
Build: Shake everything but the soda hard with ice, strain up, top with a short splash of soda for lift. Garnish with an orange twist, expressed and dropped.
Bar note: Served every 4th Saturday for L.U.R.E. — one per person until the drop, then it's water for the rest of you.
