Labor Day Weekend: You Worked. Now Come Get Worked On.

You bring the week. We'll take it off you at the door.
Labor Day Weekend: You Worked. Now Come Get Worked On.
PORTLAND, OR — Labor Day was invented so the working man could put his feet up for exactly one day and then go right back to it. Generous. We'd like to formally extend that day to three, add a bar to it, and see what happens.
Here's the thing nobody says out loud about Labor Day: it's a holiday about work. Not about grilling, not about the last swim of the season, not about the mattress sale. It's about the people who show up, punch in, carry the thing, fix the thing, close the thing down, and do it again Tuesday. Nurses. Line cooks. Warehouse crews. Drivers. Bartenders. Anyone who's ever stood for ten hours and gotten paid for eight.
That's our people. Always has been. This building was built by union hands and filled every night since by the men who use theirs.
So we're not throwing a "party." We're offering a service. You bring the week — the double shifts, the manager who says "circle back," the customer who wanted to speak to someone, the back that's been talking to you since Wednesday. We'll take it off you at the door.
What the weekend looks like
Friday — Clock out. Don't go home first. Home has a couch and the couch wins every time. Come straight here with the shirt still on and let the first one land.
Saturday — The long one. Pool table, patio, the good stool, whoever you came with and whoever you leave with. No alarm tomorrow. Act like it.
Sunday — Recovery hours are working hours. Come slow, stay slow. This is the day you finally have the conversation you've been putting off with the guy you keep seeing at the trough.
Monday — Labor Day proper. The one day a year the country agrees you deserve to sit down. We'll have a seat ready. Nobody's asking what time you're in tomorrow.
The fine print, such as it is
We don't do cover for the pleasure of your company. We don't do dress codes beyond "present." We don't care what you do for a living — but we'd like to hear about it, and we'd like to buy you the second one while you tell it.
Three days. One bar that has never once clocked out on you.
Come drink your labor blues away.
The Eagle — 835 N Lombard, Portland Open all weekend. Open Monday. Open, generally.
