Nobody Chose This One. That's Why It's His.
July 1, 2026
A birthday toast to our Creative, and to the drink that appointed itself without so much as an interview. July 1st
Today is our Creative's birthday, and tradition — a word we're using generously — says we drink French Martinis. Nobody remembers when this started. It wasn't a toast, wasn't a decision, wasn't even really a choice. It arrived the way a nickname arrives: uninvited, unexplained, and permanent by the third round.
Here is what makes this stranger than it sounds. Our Creative has opinions. Strong ones, catalogued and cross-referenced, the kind you build over a lifetime of ordering with intention. He has a college drink. He has a neat drink and a rocks drink. He has a summer drink and a "most interesting thing on this menu" drink and a drink he only orders when he's feeling dangerous. He has, in short, a whole cabinet of signatures — and not one of them is a French Martini.
The French Martini is the cocktail equivalent of a bit that started at an Applebee's in central Louisiana with a table full of girlfriends, ordered on a whim for reasons nobody can reconstruct, and somehow calcified into ritual by the following July. Nobody voted on it. Nobody defended it. It just kept showing up, the way certain people do, until refusing to order one started to feel like the strange choice.
So that's what we're doing tonight. Not the Tanqueray and tonic that got him through undergrad. Not the Hemingway that only comes out in summer, or the dill martini he brought back from Iceland like contraband, or the Manhattan he drinks when he wants to feel steady, or the Sazerac he drinks when he doesn't, or the Vesper he orders when the night has decided to get a little bit dangerous. Just the one that showed up out of nowhere and refused to leave. Pink, a little silly, entirely without pedigree — and somehow, now, the only one that's actually his.
RECIPE CARDS BELOW. DRINK ACCORDINGLY.

The Actual Canon
The drinks he'd tell you are his, if you asked. Which, tonight, is exactly why we're not making them.

Here's to the Cancer sluts on their birthday — to hoping we remember it, knowing they probably won't.HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FROM ALL OF US AT THE EAGLE
